How to add a video to an Etsy listing when you only have photos
Etsy lets a listing carry a video, and a lot of handmade shops never use the slot because the only asset they have is the photo they already edited. You do not need a second production day to fill it. You need a short clip that shows the same item the buyer is about to purchase.
Start from the photo you trust
Use the frame you would have made the first image. If the background is a cluttered desk, crop it before you animate. Motion makes clutter louder. A plain cloth, a sheet of paper, or a wall is enough.
- Jewelry and glossy ceramic: try the gloss preset so a highlight crosses the surface.
- Objects with a clear silhouette: zoom or reveal.
- Anything that looks glued to the frame: float.
Export, then check Etsy's current rules
Render 3 or 5 seconds and download the MP4. Etsy changes length and file-size rules, so open the current seller help page before you upload and trim if you are over the limit. The GIF is the spare file for email or a shop section that still wants an image.
Do not publish the watermarked free export on a listing. It reads as an unfinished ad. Spend one paid credit and upload the clean file. In the listing, put the video in the media gallery next to the still so a buyer who hates autoplay can still see the photo.
