Why not a native GIF model?
The image models that output GIF directly are not all shipping yet. Video plus ffmpeg is the path that works today, and the provider layer can add a native GIF model later.

To convert an image to an animated GIF, the file has to move and it has to stay small. Motionframe renders a short video first, then builds the GIF from that video with a limited palette and a size check.
Make the animation
JPG, PNG, or WebP up to 10 MB. You get an MP4 and a GIF.
Free exports carry a Motionframe watermark. Paid credits remove it.
- If the GIF exceeds 6 MB it is encoded again, narrower.
- Standard GIF width is about 480 pixels. HD goes wider.
- You still keep the MP4, which is the better file for Shopify and Amazon.
Questions
Are colors accurate?
GIF palettes posterize. If color match is critical, publish the MP4 and use the GIF only where a loop is required.
Can I convert several images?
Seller accounts can queue up to 10 photos with the same preset. Other accounts run one at a time.
